Non-Destructive Testing
Bi-TAS provides non-destructive testing, or NDT, to investigate existing structures with as little disruption as practical. We select techniques around the information needed for your project, rather than applying the same test to every structure.
A range of investigation techniques
Our investigation capabilities include GPR concrete scanning, EM/Ferroscan reinforcement surveys, half-cell and resistivity surveys, boroscopic inspection and General and Principal inspections. The appropriate combination depends on the material, condition, access and assessment brief.
When is NDT useful?
Non-destructive methods can help when drawings are incomplete, reinforcement details are uncertain or a structure needs investigation before alterations. They can also guide the location of targeted sampling and opening-up.
Combine methods where needed
NDT has limitations. Where results need confirmation or physical material properties are required, we can plan concrete coring, materials testing or intrusive breakouts alongside scanning. We discuss the scope and likely deliverables before attending site.
