Materials Testing
Bi-TAS coordinates structural materials testing for existing buildings and civil engineering projects. We combine practical site investigation with specialist laboratory analysis to help establish material properties and condition.
Sample gathering with a purpose
The sampling programme is shaped by your engineering brief. Concrete investigations may include cores for compressive strength testing, dust sampling for chlorides, carbonation testing, sulfate analysis, petrographic examination or HAC testing, depending on the information required.
Experienced laboratory partners
We partner with UKAS accredited laboratories for relevant chemical and laboratory analysis. The proposed tests, sample requirements and reporting are agreed as part of the scope. Laboratory accreditation applies to the laboratory and its accredited activities.
Keep intrusive works proportionate
We select sampling locations and methods with access, disruption and reinstatement in mind. Materials testing can be coordinated with GPR concrete scanning, rebar surveys, concrete coring and wider structural investigation.
